Parts of Speech কে ইংরেজি ভাষার ভিত্তি বলে ধরা হয় ।
Parts of Speech কাকে বলে ?
Part অর্থ অংশ এবং speech অর্থ কথা বা বক্তব্য । তাহলে বলা যায়, কথা বলার সময় বা বক্তব্য দেয়ার সময় আমরা যে বাক্য ব্যবহার করে থাকি তার প্রতিটি অর্থবোধক অংশকেই Parts of Speech বলে ।

- Interjection (আবেগ প্রকাশীয় অব্যয়)।
NOUN
যে কোনো কিছুর নামকেই সাধারণত Noun বলে । যেমনঃ Bangladesh, Water, Karim, Iron ইত্যাদি । Noun কে ৫ ভাগে ভাগ করা যায়। যথাঃ

Proper Noun
যে Noun দ্বারা নির্দিষ্ট কোন ব্যক্তি , বস্তু বা স্থানের নাম বোঝায় তাকে Proper Noun বলে । মূলত specific নামই Proper Noun । যেমনঃ Bangladesh, Padma, Rahim ইত্যাদি।
Common Noun: জাতি বোঝাতে Common Noun ব্যাবহৃত হয় । যেমনঃ Man, Cow, City ইত্যাদি।
Collective Noun
ব্যক্তি, বস্তু বা প্রাণীকে সমষ্টিগত ভাবে প্রকাশ করতে Collective Noun ব্যবহৃত হয়। যেমনঃ Army, class ইত্যাদি।
Material Noun
যে Noun দ্বারা কোনো পদার্থকে অখণ্ড ভানে বুঝানো হয় কিন্তু সে পদার্থ দিয়ে তৈরি কোনো বস্তুকে বুঝায়না তাকে Material Noun বলে । এটি সংখ্যা দ্বারা গণনা করা যায়না , পরিমাণ দিয়ে বুঝানো হয় । যেমনঃ Iron, Gold, Water, Rice ইত্যাদি।
Abstract Noun
যে Noun দ্বারা কোন অবস্তুগত ধারণা বা গুণকে নির্দেশ করে, যা ছোঁয়া যায় না, গন্ধ দ্বারা বা শ্রবণ দ্বারা বুঝা যায় না, যার কোনো মূর্ত প্রতিকনেই শুধু কল্পনা দ্বারা বুঝা যায় তাকে Abstract Noun বলে। যেমনঃ honesty, health, beauty, love ইত্যাদি।
