Noun এর পরিবর্তে যে word বসে তাকে pronoun বলে।
Classification of Pronoun:
Pronoun কে ০৮ ভাগে ভাগ করা হয়েছে। যথাঃ

01.Personal Pronoun: কোন ব্যক্তি বা বস্তুর পরিবর্তে যে pronoun ব্যবহৃত হয় ,তাকে personal pronoun বলে । যেমনঃ we are students(ব্যক্তির পরিবর্তে) I did it (বস্তুর পরিবর্তে)
02.Demonstrative Pronoun: কোনো ব্যক্তি বা বস্তুকে নির্দেশ করা হয় যে pronoun দ্বারা তাকে Demonstrative Pronoun বলে। যেমনঃ This is a book. এখানে book বস্তুটিকে this দ্বারা নির্দেশ করা হয়েছে।
03.Interrogative Pronoun: যে সকল pronoun দ্বারা কোন কিছু জানতে চাওয়া হয় বা জিজ্ঞেস করা হয় ,সে সকল pronoun কে Interrogative Pronoun বলে । যেমনঃ What is your name? what দ্বারা জানতে চাওয়া হয়েছে।
04.Relative pronoun: Noun বা pronoun কে নির্দেশ করে এমন দুটি বাক্যকে যুক্ত করতে যে pronoun ব্যবহৃত হয় তাকে Relative pronoun বলে। যেমনঃ This is the baby which cried for its mother
05. Indefinite Pronoun: নির্দিষ্ট কোন ব্যক্তি বা বস্তুকে না বুঝিয়ে অনির্দিষ্ট ব্যক্তি বা বস্তুকে বুঝানোর জন্য যে সকল pronoun ব্যবহার করা হয় , তাদেরকে Indefinite Pronoun বলে । যেমনঃ Any of them will do it.
06.Distributive Pronoun: দুই বা দুই এর চেয়ে বেশি ব্যক্তি বা বস্তুর প্রত্যেককে আলাদা আলাদা করে বুঝানোর জন্য যে সকল pronoun ব্যবহার করা হয় , তাদেরকে Distributive Pronoun বলে । যেমনঃ Each of the boys gets the prize.
07. Reflexive pronoun: যে Pronoun এ কর্তা (subject) এর অর্থ প্রতিফলিত হয় , সে সকল Pronoun কে Reflexive pronoun বলে। যেমনঃ He killed himself. He himself এর মধ্যে প্রতিফলিত হয়েছে।
08. Reciprocal Pronoun: যে সকল pronoun দুই বা দুই এর অধিক ব্যক্তি বা প্রাণীর মধ্যে পারস্পরিক সম্পর্ক বুঝায় তাদেরকে Reciprocal Pronoun বলে । যেমনঃ The ten student help one another.
